Designed In Design Space
Design space allows for quick and easy creation and editing of any design(s). The never miss a chance to dance and ballet shoes are from Love SVG for FREE. I adore the FREE SVG files on Love SVG. The designs are free for personal use (make and give, NOT sell). Purchase a commercial license for a reasonable price for items intended to be sold. Definitely check them out if you haven’t done so already. The FREE for personal use font called October Twilight from dafont.com made the names. The personalization was simple with names. In design space cursive words need letter spaces decreased and then welded together to make it a continuous scripted word. Another great idea for personalization is to use monograms. For monograms dafont.com has a FREE font called Monogram kk.
Cut Out With My Cricut Maker
Use an electronic cutting machine to cut out the design. Cutting designs out by hand with of iron on heat transfer material (HTV) is difficult due to the intricate cuts in the wording. Designs cut with electronic cutters are easier and faster. I have and LOVE the Cricut maker. The maker quickly and easily cut the words out of the iron-on (heat transfer vinyl – HTV) material. Unwanted excess material was subsequently removed, or also known as “weeded.” See the Cricut maker review here.
Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV)
For this project, the heat transfer vinyl (iron on) was all Cricut brand. I highly recommend that people price compare to get the best quality and price for all materials. The Cricut iron on heat transfer vinyl (HTV) was purchased directly from Cricut during a big sale. Cricut also has wonderful mystery boxes for more frugal spenders. Amazon also has multiple options as well, like the glitter HTV variety pack. Favorite non-Cricut brands include Siser and Oracal. Remember to do test cuts before cutting the design because settings may be slightly different for alternative non-Cricut brands.
There is also plain heat transfer iron-on from AliExpress. Plain heat transfer vinyl is normally $3.87, and is often on SALE for $1.99. Just remember that purchases from AliExpress come directly from China, so it’s necessary to allow for longer shipping times. AliExpress is similar to Wish, but AliExpress has items that ship for FREE, like this one.
Makeup Bags
AliExpress sells makeup bags in bulk. Again, purchases from AliExpress come directly from China, therefore shipping times are longer.
If waiting for shipping is not an option, then Amazon has a variety of makeup bag options. Target and Walmart also have affordable plain makeup bags.
Makeup Bag Iron On With The Easy Press
Ironing on the designs is super simple and done easily as seen in the YouTube video above. Using the Easy Press at 320 degrees, lay the HTV design out directly on top of the makeup bag and iron on initially for 15 seconds with a teflon sheet between to protect both the heat press and the project. Lastly, do a final press after the adhesive backing is removed, for a total of 15 seconds. Using a home iron on the high cotton setting also achieves the same result. I have used both. The easy press provides much more consistent, easy, and professional results.
After adhering the personalized HTV names or monograms the makeup bag is done and ready to be used as super cute personalized gift. Hope this step-by-step article was helpful and that you are now inspired to go out and create your own iron on makeup bag. Change the design and the colors and make it uniquely yours.
