The step by step process to use Cricut Infusible Ink Markers on a Plush Polyester Blanket is outlined below.
Plush Blanket
The plush 100% polyester blanket used for this project was purchased from Macy’s, but there are similar options available on Amazon with FREE shipping. Target, Ross, and Walmart also have a nice selection of options.
Infusible Ink Markers
Infusible Ink Markers are really a lot of FUN! Designs can be drawn with the Cricut as seen here. I am terrible at drawing, which is why I let the Cricut draw this cute design with beautiful precision. But, the Cricut Infusible markers and pens can be used to draw freehand as well. Cricut Infusible Ink Markers and Pens are available on Cricut.com and Amazon.com. I would definitely recommend price comparing. Usually Cricut has better prices when they have a sale going on, like their Valentines Sale pictured below, which goes until Feb 18.
Designed In Design Space
The design was made using elements from various sources. The layout was made in Cricut design space. The font was a FREE cursive script font called October Twilight from dafont.com. Choose a favorite font and whatever saying desired. Then personalize it with the recipient’s name. To get a continuous flowing word remember to weld the word together. Then Change the Linetype of the design to Draw (as seen in the top left side).
Drawn With The Cricut Maker
I LOVE the Cricut Maker. The maker quickly and easily drew the image onto just plain white copy paper. The Cricut explore line of machines will also draw designs just as easily. The machines will stop between each color in order to allow switching of the pen colors as per the design. Remember to “Mirror” the image so it is backward and when ironed on it can be read correctly.
Color In Design
For this project, the entire design was an outline, as a result it was colored in by hand. The coloring didn’t take very long. After coloring in the design was still a little dull in appearance, which is expected with Cricut Infusible Ink. The colors get more vibrant after ironing the image on.
Iron On
Find temperature and heating time recommendations using the Easy Press heat guide on Cricut.com (link here). Using the original Easy Press the design was pressed for 80 seconds at 360 degrees farenheit. Cricut recommends preheating for 5 seconds, light pressure, a warm peel, and butcher paper for Easy Press protection.
I think this personalized wedding gift came out super cute and as as result of this article I hope you are inspired to try using Cricut Infusible Ink Markers on a Plush Polyester Blanket now that you know how easy it is to use Infusible Ink markers and pens.
